Mary Friend, MS

Welcome and thank you for visiting my little corner of the website. My name is Mary Jennifer Friend and I have been counseling for over twenty years. I have my Master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in: Curriculum and Instruction. I have spent decades in the educational setting. The classroom became my true education in counseling. I believe that you must meet individuals where they are and listen with an empathetic heart. Only then, can you strive towards a solution. It has been my experience that most of our issues stem from past traumas. As well as recent, past and/or generational traumas.

“Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you” -Gabor Mate

I am a trauma coach, providing a roadmap for anyone that feels that their traumatic experiences are holding them back. The interventions that I practice subtly and unconsciously change the client’s behavior patterns so that they can react to present experiences based on present conditions and not react to situations that present themselves today based on emotions linked to previous life events. The technique relies on reprogramming a person’s response and behavior mechanism in such a way to bring about a healthier sense of well-being.

My sessions/interventions have been sustainable to help treat those suffering from trauma, anxiety, depression and addiction. I support commonly applied techniques such as Talk therapy, Attachment therapy, CBT, Motivational interviewing, Meditation, Relapse prevention, Breathing techniques and other forms of mindfulness, which can foster an increased level of joy.

“How can we move being separate and superior to connected and compassionate? How then can we together be accountable and place one’s fears in the cradle of loving kindness. All of us finding our true selves in a community of tenderness, all of us essential allies to each other. We find our fundamental identity in each other, each one of us the

REAL DEAL and there are no exceptions to that. Do not forget who you are.” Gregory Boyle - Founder of Homeboy Industries
